Comparing Payroll Services Print E-mail

When you are searching for the right payroll services for your business, you will find that you have several choices as to what type of services you can use.  You need to take into consideration such things as the size of your business, complexity of your pay system (straight hourly and salary wages, commissions, bonuses), whether or not you want in-house or outsourced payroll services, etc.  Here is a list of some of the different types of payroll services available.

In-house services – You can choose to have your own payroll department within your business.  This is often a choice for business owners if their businesses are small and paychecks do not have to be delivered to several different areas.  There are several excellent payroll software programs available for in-house payroll processing.

Outsource through Internet time sheets – Large businesses often use the option of having their employees fill out Internet time sheets, which are then processed by an outsourced payroll servicing company.  Through database documents and time sheets that are sent through the Internet in a safe and encrypted manner, the payroll servicing company can receive almost instant information on employee hours and any changes in employee status.

Outsourced phone payroll or fax payroll - Rather than sending a representative to your business at the end of each payroll period, many payroll services companies have you phone in your payroll information, or fax it in.  You supply the hours and employee status information, and the payroll servicing company does the processing and delivers the paychecks, or takes care of direct deposit payments.

These are just a sampling of the different payroll services you can choose to use for your company.  To choose what is best for your business, you may want to consult a business financial specialist.
